The Ehrhorn No. 1 Woodland Adventure Centre houses a special exhibition of a very particular kind: The lovingly restored former moor farm is a worthwhile destination for a day out on its own. The exhibition shows how and why the people altered the appearance of the landscape several times in a decisive manner over the course of the last centuries.

The Memorial Bergen-Belsen is located some 40 kilometres away from Soltau on the grounds of the former prisoner of war and concentration camp. Graves and memorial stones remind us of the suffering and subsequent death of many of the prisoners and captives. A permanent exhibition informs visitors about the history of the victims and the camp. The visit is free of charge.

As North Germany's largest nature experience centre, botanika offers insights into the fascinating world of plants, insects and East Asian culture right in the middle of the Rhododendron park in Bremen. Here you can go on a research expedition in the interactive biological-botanical discovery centre and show houses even when its raining outside.

In the North German Toy Museum, one of the world’s best and most varied toy collections from four centuries is presented in a unique manner. Small and large visitors do not just get the chance to travel back to earlier days, but can also actively take part themselves.

The candles of the candle factory are made by old traditional craftwork. Make a tour through the factory and watch while candles are carved by professionals. They will show you how the candles are plunged into up to 19 different colour-baths and afterwards are carved by the carvers.
7 days a week, the factory offers free guided tours. Please note that the tour takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes.

Guests will experience the unique heath land with its typical characteristics like knotty juniper, moor and large heath zones. Ample heath zones with white birch trees and detached standing juniper are special for this area and can be gazed at. On the way we sometimes meet sheeps and can watch the sheepherder at work; additionally the beekeeper tells us about the hard-working heath bee – maybe we can taste the tasty honey. The heath garden with its 130 different kinds of heath is the outstanding highlight.
